Daniel Grimwood (piano)
Lecture recital on Henselt’s Piano Concerto
Following on from his beautiful online performance for TMC during lockdown of the slow movement from Henselt’s Piano Concerto in F minor, Op.16, Daniel shines a light on this wonderful, but neglected piano masterpiece.
Adolph von Henselt was one of the most admired Romantic composers and piano virtuosi of the 19th century – Schumann called him the ‘hero of the pianoforte’ – but his works have been largely forgotten in the last 100 years. In editor role, Daniel has overseen the new edition of the concerto for Edition Peters and has also recorded some of his works for Edition Peters Sounds. See what Dan discovered during this process!
